Voyage Dallas Interview 2019

mpwovenn fiber artist

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mindy Pantuso.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Mindy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Shortly after having my 2nd child, I was worried about postpartum depression. I experienced it with my first child and wanted to make sure that I gave myself an outlet that would allow me to express myself. I had a desire to create, but I wasn’t completely sure what I wanted to specialize in. I began doing many different things to see what people may be interested in.

I created cards, designed mugs, and designed banners, but it didn’t strike me as something that was unique. I then decided to really spend time learning the art of macrame and woven tapestries. I would make some of my first items for friends and family, and thankfully, they really liked them! After more and more of my friends and family became interested in my work, I decided to register my business and create an Etsy shop. I began to build my inventory of fiber art to place in my online store. Two and a half years into my business, I am very happy with what I’ve built and where I’ve come from. Managing the work while also being a stay at home mom to two little ones can be challenging, but I’m so thankful that I have the opportunity to do both. Creating has made my heart full. I am thankful for the blessings that God has bestowed upon my family and I, and I am very much looking forward to the future.

Has it been a smooth road?
In the beginning, I would sometimes feel guilty because I was trying to do something for myself, while my two young children needed attention. I had to figure out how to make sure I was balancing my time appropriately between my multiple responsibilities. Shoutout to the full time working mommas, because that is hard, hard work. I don’t think I would have been able to do what I do without the continued help and support from my amazing husband. Every day he encourages me to continue and helps me focus when I need it. Many times I have needed to finish work for a client, and he will take over the kids and let me work.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Mpwovenn – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
My business name is mpwovenn! I am a fiber artist that specializes in woven wall hangings and macrame wall hangings for home decor. One thing that really makes me proud is that I am completely self-taught. I am now able to use my skills to teach others in workshops, where students can learn from me and bring their own wall hangings home!
